How we rank products
Our rankings are built from desk research, not sponsored placements:
- Manufacturer specifications — verified against official product pages, not marketing summaries.
- Smart home publications — buying guides and reviews from established home-tech media.
- Buyer reviews — aggregated sentiment from retailer reviews and smart home communities like r/smarthome and r/homeautomation, where real buyers are blunt about what disappointed them.
We don't claim to have personally tested every product. When we cite performance claims, we attribute them to their source. When review sentiment is mixed, we say so — you'll see honest cons on every product we rank.
How we make money
